How do I use the CITE in ERIC or ProQuest?
Answer
In a word, judiciously. The cite feature gives you a fast citation, but not always an accurate citation. When you click on "cite" there is a drop-down menu which allows you to display the bibliographic information in a number of citation styles. You need to know enough about the rules of that citation style to determine if the citation was prepared properly. Machine-made citations are notorious for using improper capitalization, including the database as a named author, and failing to include the ending page number of the article being cited. If you decide to use the database's cite feature, it is strongly suggested that you check their work.
